Pulmonary heart diseases occur when the heart's right ventricle struggles to pump blood due to increased pressure in the pulmonary arteries, commonly caused by conditions like pulmonary hypertension and chronic lung diseases. This strain can lead to the enlargement of the right side of the heart, making it less efficient in its function. While pulmonary heart diseases are a serious concern, early diagnosis and treatment can help manage symptoms and improve the quality of life. Treatments typically focus on controlling the underlying lung disease, using medications to relieve pressure in the lungs, and, in more severe cases, providing oxygen therapy or considering surgical interventions.
